Judi’s Wigs is a wig store local to the Oklahoma area. They needed to get more traffic to their website through search and convert that traffic into customers.
Before we got started on anything, we needed to make sure the tracking was set up properly. I set up their GSC account to see what keywords they were already ranking for. We needed to see how their existing blogs and core pages were performing.
The GSC account hadn’t been started, so the data we were working with was very young.
After that, we set up the GA4 account through GTM. We set up custom events and conversions, built reports, custom explorations, and began analyzing the major drop off points.
Immediately after the GA4 was installed, we started seeing data that indicated where we could improve on conversions.
Using a combination of proven design principles and the data that we were getting from GA4, we started making better design choices for the website. By improving on the CTAs and the offers we drove more conversions at a higher rate than before.
There were several technical issues we discovered on the website. This included having full duplicate pages, several areas of duplicate content, non-optimized images, missing meta descriptions and title tags, improper site structure, and poor semantic HTML.
The moment I saw those issues, I hopped on them to get them resolved.
First, we got rid of the duplicate pages and set up the necessary 301 redirects.
Second, we went through and removed/altered the duplicate content.
Fourth, we added the meta descriptions and title tags.
Fifth, we optimized all the images to help improve the loading speed.
Sixth, we improve the site structure and included semantic HTML
Seventh, we removed a lot of unnecessary code. This includes JS and CSS. Anything left was minified.
Eighth, we fixed some broken links and did a final check on everything.
At this point, we were satisfied with the performance of the site. It was time to start producing content.
I reviewed and updated their existing blogs. The main issues for why they weren’t ranking was because they used content that was too short and didn’t target high value keywords.
It’s a simple concept, but if you want traffic, you have to write content that is authoritative.
After updating all of their blogs to have more information, we let the ranking adjust. I then did keyword research to see what topics they should be going after and created a plan for the next few months.
I wrote articles for them that were better than those that had received from other SEO experts and started to see real rankings. Additionally, I gave them a list of the basics for them to follow so they could continue writing content that would rank.
Finally, they wanted to make sure they were getting the right traffic to their site, so we ran search ads through Google. We promoted blogs using the same keywords in our keyword research, and ran campaigns for people who were ready to buy wigs.
